Meet the author of the
Nyville High Book Series, Shalayne Alexandria, through our exclusive
Q&A!
Q: Do you ever experience writers' block?
A: I experience writer's block fairly often. But I can usually write at least a
paragraph or I’ll go back and do editing which often inspires me and helps the
writers block disappear.
Q: How long do you intend to continue writing the Nyville High book series?
A:
I intend to write about the characters through High School and I may continue
them through College.
Q:
Do you refer to write free hand or on a computer?
A:
I prefer my laptop. It's easier to fix my errors and I don’t have to keep a
pencil sharpener handy. Don't assume that doesn't mean I don't write freehand at
all. I have notebooks full of writings waiting to be transferred to my laptop
Q: Do you have your own laptop?
A:
Yes, I do. I’m very lucky to have my own laptop because, with as many siblings
as I have, I would never have an opportunity to write as much if we all had
to share one.
Q: What are you favorite kinds of books to read?
A:
I like to read Romance novels, particularly Historical Romances and some Sci-Fi.
Oh, and I love fantasy as well!
Q: Who are your favorite authors?
A:
My favorite authors are Dean Koontz, Julie Garwood, JK Rowling and Jane Austin.
Q: What is your favorite book?
A:
Pride and Prejudice at the moment. Ask me again later and the answer is likely
to change...
Q:
Do you have a favorite TV show?
A:
Currently, I’m borderline obsessive over Grey’s Anatomy, NCIS, and Dark Blue.
Q:
Who is the greatest influence on your life?
A:
My mother.
Q:
Your books have a mix of romance and teen angst, plus the drama and serial
aspects of a soap opera. How would you categorize your books?
A: I suppose teen fiction would be all encompassing. I think there's a bit of
everything in them.
Q: You extend an invitation for readers to contact you at the start of each book. Do
you really want to hear from them?
A:
Absolutely! I want to write well to entertain my readers. Hopefully, they
become fans and friends.
Do you have a boyfriend?
No, not currently and not from lack of trying! I’m impatiently waiting for the
right guy to come along.
